Redbud Design Challenge Home | Design Divas Edition

This home is part of something truly special at Simmons Homes.

As part of our Redbud Design Challenge, employees from across the company—spanning accounting, customer service, purchasing, sales, design, and more—were divided into two teams and challenged to create their ideal version of our newest floor plan, the Redbud. Both teams worked with the same elevation and the same budget, but were given creative freedom inside and out.

This home is the vision of the Design Divas.

A Fresh Take on the Redbud

The Design Divas focused on light, charm, and personality—starting right at the curb. A newly added front window transforms the elevation, bringing natural light inside while adding undeniable curb appeal. A soft pop of green on the front door completes the look, setting the tone for what’s inside.

The interior carries a coastal cottage feel, blending soft green hues, warm wood tones, and gold accents throughout. The kitchen was reimagined to feel more open and inviting, with a repositioned island that improves flow and functionality. A standout feature is the custom built-in cabinetry with floating shelves just off the kitchen—equal parts practical storage and beautiful display.

The kitchen itself is a showstopper, featuring:

• Three sunny windows over a ceramic apron sink
• Gold sconce lighting
• An angled wood vent hood painted a soft green
• A warm wood-stained island with gold pendant lighting
• Sea glass green varied tile backsplash tying the entire space together

Additional windows brighten the primary bedroom, while the laundry room continues the design story with cabinetry, floating shelves, and another pop of that signature green. Vertical paneling adds texture and interest in the entry, laundry, kitchen built-ins, and bathroom shelving areas.

More Than a Home—A Creative Competition

This Redbud is one of two homes created during the Redbud Design Challenge, and while construction is still underway, the vision is already taking shape. Public voting is coming soon, along with a spring reveal event where buyers, Realtors, and our community will help decide which team designed the winning Redbud.
